Gothic in its Height – Beauvais Cathedral
Instead of writing about the Month of Photography that is drawing to its end all over Europe, especially meaning its rush for events in Paris, I here upload a couple of images from a brief visit to Beauvais, the town near the so called “third airport of Paris”, Beauvais -Tille.
The very town of Beauvais does not seem to be particular. It is a post WWII town north of the French capital. And yet, it has something specificly Picardian. Of course I mean the tall cathedral of Beauvais. Towerless, “short” and unacomplished by the medieval constructors, Beauvais cathedral has the highest nave of a Gothic construction, rising up to 48 m. The closest competitor could be another Picardian cathedral, that of Amiens, with 42 metres-high nave. Enjoy images.
