Photography Workshop at Ylakiai gymnasium

In the end of February I spent almost a week in the most far-away place of Lithuania, Skuodas district in the extreme North-West of the county, teaching photography to children of Ylakiai gymnasium. It was actually more like preaching about how photography is good and great as means to be creative. The more global goal of the project was aiming at stopping bullying in favour of creativity.

On sunny morning of March 7 I went to Ylakiai again (250 km from Kaunas). The class which provided the best voted proposal got a practical workshop, which I was going to teach. With these pupils we were discussing about how to visualize the phrase “Mes prieš patyčias! O tu?” (We’re against bullying. What about you?)

I really enjoy the process, both brainstorming of “how are we gonna do it” and the photo shoot, where everyone of the 20 pupils took an active part. To “employ” all of them, I suggested a method of Jan Holleben, so everyone needed to work on a specific requisits: write letters on balloons, produce snow balls out of paper, … , and of course – to pose!
